Maaike Middleton

Picture of Maaike Middleton Professionally trained in Documentary production with an MA in Documentary Film-making and a BA in Film. Maaike has worked with a number of award winning producers and directors on various films the latest premiering at Sundance film festival, At the End of the Line. She recently left The Business Channel where she worked as an editor to focus on The Accidental Smoker.

The Accidental Smoker, Maaike's current film follows Richard Welch, a London, as he tries to quit smoking. During this journey the film explores the many aspects of this complex issue, including; with so much medical knowledge about harmful effects, why do people still smoke today? What are the psychological reasons for smoking? How can smokers quit? And finally, what methods exist to help them quit?

Window Shopping, Maaike's latest film gazes into the world of legalised prostitution.It offers refreshingly  honest answers about the ethics of prostitution and why men pay for sex. The film has been accepted to a number of international festivals including; The Portobello Film Festival, dubbed 'the biggest celebration of independent film in Europe' by The Independent.
