Gabriel Manrique
Gabriel is a documentary filmmaker with a background in Anthropology and radical media production. He has directed, filmed and edited several documentaries in the UK, Iceland, Sweden and Peru with topics ranging from class, the environment, and social injustice in cooperation with musicians such as Jose Gonzalez, Sigur Ros and Atahualpa Yupanqui. He has a postgraduate degree in Digital Documentary from the University of Sussex and his latest project deals with the indigenous labor union struggle of the porters who service the corrupt tourist agencies on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in southern Peru. The film is a joint production of UK based Matchbox Media and Swedish based Compay Pictures.
