Marc Francis

Marc Francis is an independent filmmaker with over ten years of experience in the industry. He was chosen by Harper's Bazaar magazine as one of their “Forty Under 40; the household names of the future”, and named by the Observer as one of Britain’s “Rising Stars” of 2007. His previous work has been broadcast on ITV, BBC and Channel 4 and his film projects have been supported by the Sundance Documentary Fund and Film Labs, the Channel 4 Britdoc Foundation, and the UK Film Council’s Screen South agency. In recent years, he co-directed and co-produced 'Black Gold', an award winning feature documentary which premiered at Sundance, and went on to be released in cinemas and broadcast in over 20 countries around the world. Marc has currently completed his second feature documentary for BBC Storyville and Arte about China’s foray into Africa. He is now currently developing a slate of both fiction and non-fiction projects.
